Solar Installation Fish Hoek Meat Market - A Tailor-made Solution
The owner of the Fish Hoek Meat Market building reached out to us and said that they wanted to install a solar system for their tenant, who was paying around R20,000 electricity per month.
The goal was to install a big enough solar system to sell the electricity to his tenant at 50% of the municipality price and then sell the excess solar back into the grid.
The components consisted of a 30kW Deye high voltage hybrid inverter, 4x 5.12kWh Deye high voltage batteries and 47 solar panels.
The panels were split into 25x 550W JA and 22x 610W Sunova. We initially quoted on 50x 550W, but 1 of the North facing roofs proved to be a bit of a challenge with wasted space.
The solar array is split into 3 orientations: 10x 550W facing East, 15x 550W facing West and 22x 610W facing North.
As the property is a heritage building, it had been around for some time now, and some of the tiles were brittle and some even cracked. Luckily, we managed to source extra tiles and replaced them as we went along.
This commercial setup is a win-win for both the owner as well as the tenant. But let’s look at how it benefits both parties.
Owner:
1. He has a solar system, so he will always have a tenant to rent his commercial space.
2. Sells his produced electricity to tenant for a fee that will eventually pay off the investment.
3. Sell excess solar power back into the grid.
4. Reduces the high cost burden of electricity of his tenant.
Tenant:
1. Saves electricity as he buys it at half the price.
2. Covered during load shedding. All the fridges, machinery and staff can continue working.
3. Reduces monthly expenses and overheads.
