RESIDENTIAL SOLAR SYSTEM

What is a Solar PV System?
Residential Solar System using Solar PV (Photovoltaic) refers to the production of electrical energy when exposed to sunlight. When the sun shines, the solar panels use the light to produce a DC (Direct Current) voltage. Each solar panel has a Watt rating and the more solar panels you have, the more Watts your system will produce.
Watt is the unit for Power. Unfortunately, this type of direct current power cannot be used in our homes as our appliances and loads use a different kind of voltage. In SA, this voltage is known as AC (Alternating Current). To be able to change DC power to AC power you will need an inverter.
